Jersey Fouls of the Week: Nicolas Cage awesomely bad movie edition

The waiting is over! The New York Rangers fans streak atop jersey fouls of the week has been busted.

And boy was it busted by someone who found a national treasure … zing! You’ll get the joke below hopefully.

But we had some good ones this week. We had total misspellings, and a Philadelphia Flyers homage to a horse at the Belmont. Go figure. Again it’s your money … waste it however you want.

If you want to submit, make sure to email us at puckdaddyblog@yahoo.com or tweet to the hashtag #jerseyfoul. We’ll pick them up, and try to make sure to give credit where credit is due. We’ll throw them up on our Tumblr page!

3. It’s spelled Teravainen

Even Blackhawks fans have trouble getting the super rookie’s name spelled correctly. (S/t @KyleW)

2. Smarty Jones at the Belmont

The 2004 Triple Crown wannabe is from the Philadelphia area, so we get the love. But a Flyers jersey? Would you ever wear that to a game. You’d get heckled, mercilessly – probably by the same people who booed Santa Claus. (S/t @bryanagraham)

1.   The Wicker Jersey

Why is Nicolas Cage so unintentionally funny? Is it because Face/Off was so awesomely, quotably face touchingly bad? Is it because he somehow thought it was a good idea to take the lead male role in the 2006 reboot of “The Wicker Man?”

Is it because of his hyper-active historical mind in the “National Treasure” movies? Or is it because Jerry Bruckheimer failed in his attempt to turn Cage into an action star in “The Rock” and “Con Air?” I can't get the line "hummingbird" out of my head when I think of him in "Con Air." Regardless, to the wearer and creator of this jersey, bravo. You’ve won Jersey Fouls this week. There's a back and a front to this bad boy, so we posted both. (S/t @lumpiestgumby)
